Tips on Naming Your Adoption Social Media Accounts

how to name your social media adoption accounts

Pay attention to the names of your social media accounts!

It’s important to pay special attention to the names of your social media accounts. Keep it consistent! As you use your page to interact with others on social media (commenting, liking, tweeting, etc.), you want people that see your tweets and comments to know you are a hopeful adoptive parent seeking a match.

Use your first names (last names can be hard to spell or remember!) and add “are adopting” or “adopt” to the end (John and Jane are adopting, for example). For Facebook, you can set the name of your page separately from your account name, and you can change it at any time.

Your account name will be visible to others on Instagram, so it’s important that your name relates to adoption. Be sure to use lots of hashtags on your posts so someone searching for adoption finds you!

For Pinterest your account name will be visible in addition to your board names. Be creative with the names of boards you make. They should relate to adoption. Be sure to write little notes as you pin images to your boards, like “We would love this for our little one when we adopt! #adoption dreams!” so when your pin gets re-pinned your name and note go with the pin.
